Operational Training Manager

About Us

Join us at Cleanaway and contribute to making a sustainable future possible, together. We transform waste into resources and renewable energy.  When you start to think of waste as a resource, it opens a world of possibilities.

As a high growth, ASX listed organisation with over 7500 employees, our goal is to be recognised by our customers as the most innovative and sustainable waste management company with industry leading Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) performance.  We are Australia’s largest company in this sector, providing essential services to millions of customers and communities nationally.

The Opportunity

Our Solids Business is seeking an Operational Training Manager; you’ll be at the forefront of capability development across Cleanaway’s frontline operations. Supported by the wider HSE Operations lead and working in close partnership with our National Training & Capability function, you’ll take ownership of delivering business-aligned training strategies that uplift safety, compliance, and performance standards at scale.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll shape competency-based learning, support enterprise-wide training initiatives, and embed consistent best-practice learning frameworks across a high-risk, dynamic operational environment. You’ll play a critical role in forming the Solid Waste Services Operational Training Strategy and also delivering key components of the national CWY Training Plan, working across sites and shifts to drive real impact on the ground.

About You

You’re an experienced training leader who thrives in complex, fast-paced, and safety-critical environments like logistics, mining, construction, or waste management, with substantial experience in leading competency-based training programs.

You know how to align teams to deliver practical, blended learning across frontline operations, whether they be in a truck cabin, depot, or high-risk zone. You’re confident navigating matrix structures, partnering with a variety of stakeholders, and working with RTOs to ensure quality and compliance.

You bring strong leadership, exceptional stakeholder management skills, and a passion for lifting capability at every level. Most importantly, you lead by example, supporting your team, coaching leaders, and embedding a culture of continuous learning wherever you go.
