The Opportunity
Based at our Cleanaway Hydrocarbon Refinery in Narangba, we refine used lubricating oil into high-quality base oil products. As part of our Oils and Technical Services Business, this site plays a key role in transforming waste oil into valuable resources while meeting stringent safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Reporting to the Production Engineer, this is a fixed-term 12-month contract with the potential for extension or progression into a Process Engineer role. You will work closely with our Production Engineer, as well as the operations and maintenance teams, to support plant performance, process optimisation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
This is an excellent opportunity for engineers with a passion for process optimisation, plant performance, sustainability and circular economy to gain hands-on experience in a specialised industrial refinery environment.
In this role, you will:
- Assist in the preparation of technical procedures, work instructions, work schedules, estimates and work method statements around work management and optimising assets
- Support engineering, infrastructure and environment projects to deliver continuous improvement opportunities
- Optimise plant performance for better yield and quality, with a strong focus on safety
- Assist in troubleshooting and investigating process failures
- Report on plant performance and product quality
- Manage inventory for the site
- Ensure tasks are completed on time
About You
You are a dynamic, technically minded and forward-thinking engineer who values teamwork and commitment, who enjoys solving problems. You are willing to learn and build your skills and experience. To contribute to your success in this role, you will need to possess.
- An ability to develop safety procedures and standard operating procedures (SOP)
- A knowledge of risk assessment processes
- An understanding of process drawings (P&ID, PFD, etc)
- Effective communication skills with the ability to prioritise within a dynamic environment
- Solid organisational and planning skills, with high standards of accuracy and precision
- A degree in Process / Chemical Engineering (or equivalent)
