About Us

Join us at Cleanaway and contribute to making a sustainable future possible, together!

We transform waste into resources and renewable energy.  When you start to think of waste as a resource, it opens a world of possibilities.

As a high growth, ASX listed organisation with over 7500 employees, our goal is to be recognised by our customers as the most innovative and sustainable waste management company with industry leading HSE performance.  We are Australia’s largest company in this sector, providing essential services to millions of customers and communities nationally.

The Opportunity

As a Compliance Business Analyst (ER/IR) at Cleanaway, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with industrial instruments that govern employee pay, terms, and conditions. You will support, facilitate, and manage pay assurance investigations and remediation activities in line with our Pay Assurance strategy and program plans.

This is a high-impact role where you will combine your ER/IR expertise, data analysis skills, and stakeholder engagement experience to deliver accurate and transparent outcomes. You will work cross-functionally with HR, Payroll, Operations Leaders, Finance, and external experts to identify, quantify, and resolve compliance issues while helping to design long-term preventative measures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Compliance Program Manager and program team to design and facilitate cross-functional investigation and remediation processes.
  • Provide input to the scope, design, and methodology for pay assurance investigations and remediation activities.
  • Collaborate with data analysts and functional teams to design and execute data constructs, models, and extractions.
  • Apply remediation subject matter expertise to deliver quality assurance across review, remediation, and investigation programs.
  • Analyse payroll, time & attendance, and operational practices to identify root causes, remediation requirements, and actionable insights.
  • Develop and execute reports to support investigations, leadership updates, and program strategy.
  • Partner with ER/IR, Payroll, and external consultants (including forensic accountants and legal advisors) to quantify and verify pay remediation requirements.
  • Translate complex business, legal, and industrial relations requirements into data and payroll output specifications.
  • Act as a bridge between business and technical stakeholders to ensure mutual understanding of requirements and issues.
  • Recommend solutions to address issues identified during investigations and embed compliance improvements.

About You
You are a detail-oriented, analytical professional with strong ER/IR and data analysis capabilities, capable of operating in a complex industrial relations environment. You bring:

  • Experience executing large-scale pay investigation and remediation activities.
  • Strong experience interpreting and implementing enterprise agreements and other industrial/legislative instruments.
  • Experience extracting, modelling, and analysing payroll and time & attendance data.
  • Knowledge of payroll and T&A systems such as Preceda and Kronos.
  • Strong technical data skills – e.g. advanced MS Excel, Power BI, SQL, or other analysis/visualisation tools.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) and other employment-related legislation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all organisational levels.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Legal, Finance, HR, IR, or a related field.

This is a unique opportunity to combine ER/IR knowledge, technical data expertise, and compliance leadership in a role that directly impacts operational integrity and employee trust. You will be part of a highly skilled team, gain exposure to senior stakeholders, and help shape sustainable compliance solutions for the future.
