Sales Manager - National Accounts

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Sales Manager – National Accounts to lead our National Account Management (NAM) team and Resource Recovery Specialists (RRS). This leadership role is responsible for strengthening and expanding key strategic customer relationships, driving retention, and delivering profitable growth across a portfolio of major national accounts.

You will play a pivotal role in driving a high standard of account management and contract management, while identifying and executing opportunities to increase customer revenue through strategic share of wallet growth. This position is critical to ensuring our national clients receive consistent, high-quality service and value through a consultative, data-driven approach.

Key Responsibilities

Team & Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of National Account Managers and Resource Recovery Specialists to achieve strategic, financial, and operational targets.
  • Drive continuous improvement in account management and contract management capabilities across the team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and customer-centricity.

Account Management & Growth

  • Support the development and execution, through the team, of structured National Account Management Plans that lead to contract renewals, revenue growth, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure effective commercial negotiation strategies are in place to drive contract renewals and maximise value from existing agreements.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across a portfolio of high-value clients, and within and across our business units

Share of Wallet & Revenue Expansion

  • Identify and pursue cross-selling and up-selling opportunities in existing accounts to drive share of wallet growth and improve profitability.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to deliver a consistent and compelling value proposition aligned with client needs and strategic business goals.

Commercial & Operational Excellence

  • Monitor and manage team performance against KPIs, revenue targets, and contract obligations.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of high-quality proposals, quotes, and tenders.
  • Ensure pricing integrity, margin protection, and compliance with internal governance processes.

Data, Systems & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate CRM data, pipeline forecasts, and sales reporting to enable informed decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Leverage customer insights and market data to inform strategy, improve service delivery, and enhance customer value.

About You

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in a senior sales or commercial leadership role managing major national accounts (portfolio >$150M p/a) within complex environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing commercial teams.
  • Proven success in strategic contract management and driving growth through share of wallet initiatives.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, with excellent analytical and reporting skills.
  • Highly skilled in negotiation, relationship management, and client engagement at senior levels.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, including presentation and tender development capabilities.
  • Background in waste management or related industries (preferred).
  • Tertiary qualifications in business, finance, sales & marketing, or a related discipline (preferred).
