The Opportunity

Play a key part in optimising incineration processes, troubleshooting operational issues and driving continuous improvement across plant operations and capital projects in this newly created position. You’ll work closely with operational teams, engineers and stakeholders to ensure waste is processed safely, efficiently and in line with regulatory requirements, while identifying opportunities to improve performance and reliability.

This is an opportunity to work in a critical role supporting complex operations, with exposure to significant projects and operational decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

  • Analyse waste stream characteristics to determine optimal processing strategies that meet safety, performance and regulatory standards
  • Provide technical guidance and support to operations personnel, ensuring consistent adherence to approved procedures
  • Troubleshoot incineration and fired equipment issues relating to efficiency, emissions, product quality and downtime
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity, reduce emissions and improve safety and reliability
  • Review operational and performance data to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement
  • Define and scope capital projects, and oversee execution to ensure compliance with specifications, contracts and policies
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support operational excellence and broader strategic initiatives

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or a related discipline
  • Hands‑on experience operating fired equipment such as incinerators, furnaces or boilers within hazardous waste, petrochemical, oil & gas or a similar process‑driven industry
  • Strong experience with Process Safety Management systems, including HAZOP and Management of Change (required), with LOPA/AOA/SIL exposure highly regarded
  • Solid understanding of waste processing techniques and performance optimisation
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a practical, solutions‑focused mindset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools
  • Experience using Citect SCADA and a broad range of PLC platforms is highly desirable
