The Opportunity
The ER/IR Manager will provide senior-level industrial and employment relations expertise across the organisation, ensuring compliant, commercially sound and respectful workplace practices. This role partners closely with leadership, unions, employee groups and government bodies to manage risk, resolve disputes and continuously strengthen industrial relations frameworks, payroll compliance and organisational capability. Responsibilities will include:

Uphold the highest standards of professional conduct, personal presentation and company image

Contribute to maintaining a respectful, inclusive and harmonious workplace

Build and maintain strategic relationships with employee groups, union representatives, government bodies and key stakeholders

Provide expert advice on employment and industrial law concepts, ensuring disciplined and consistent application

Ensure compliance with all relevant industrial instruments, legislation, regulations and judicial decisions

Lead and manage industrial relations disputes, including complex and high-risk matters
-
Manage end-to-end payroll compliance matters outside the formal IR compliance program
-
Support and strengthen internal payroll and IR compliance functions
-
Develop IR capability across the HR team and broader leadership group

Continuously improve IR frameworks, systems and processes to unify operational practices
-
Proactively identify and manage IR risks, disputes and issues to support productivity and profitability

Mitigate the risk of underpayments through robust industrial instrument and payroll compliance
-
Resolve disputes with consideration of operational, commercial and reputational impacts, achieving pragmatic, win-win outcomes
About You
-
Senior-level consultancy and/or advisory experience in industrial relations

Demonstrated success in developing and implementing IR strategies, frameworks, systems and tactical plans

Strong commercial acumen with broad knowledge of employment and industrial relations matters

Proven experience operating within awards and enterprise agreements, acquisitions and change management environments

Highly developed stakeholder management skills with exceptional attention to detail

Tertiary qualifications in Law, Industrial Relations, Human Resources or a related discipline
-
Proven capability in managing complex IR matters and enterprise bargaining in large, complex organisations

Minimum 5+ years (or equivalent) relevant experience
