The Opportunity

Reporting into the Customer & Commercial function, the Senior Commercial Pricing & Tenders Manager is a critical leadership role within Cleanaway’s Tendering and Pricing Deal Desk.

Operating at the centre of Cleanaway’s largest and most complex commercial opportunities, this role leads the commercial pricing and tendering agenda across major bids, including municipal, government and complex non-rate card deals. You will own the commercial shape of bids from early opportunity design through approval and submission, ensuring pricing, cost, service design and risk settings come together to deliver profitable, well-governed outcomes.

This is a hands-on role for a senior commercial leader who can balance win probability with sustainable margin, confidently challenge assumptions and protect long-term value in a complex, asset-heavy environment.

You will also lead and govern a team of commercial and pricing specialists supporting tender development across the business, setting standards, mentoring capability and ensuring consistent, high-quality outcomes across multiple concurrent bids.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and govern a team of commercial and pricing resources supporting national, major and municipal tender activity
• Lead commercial pricing and tender strategy for major bids, including municipal, government, CUA and complex enterprise deals
• Own Deal Desk workflows and provide clear commercial leadership within tender forums
• Shape end-to-end commercial offers, including pricing logic, indexation, escalators, risk buffers, volume assumptions and contractual levers
• Stress-test deal economics across volume ramps, churn, route density, asset utilisation and cost-to-serve
• Ensure pricing decisions align to pricing guardrails, delegated authorities and long-term value objectives
• Challenge deal structures that grow revenue but erode margin, utilisation or capital returns
• Provide clear commercial advice to GMs, CFMs and executive forums on pricing, margin and risk implications
• Support post-award reviews, embedding learnings into future tenders

About You

You are a commercially sharp, judgement-led pricing and deal leader who thrives in complex environments where rigour, influence and decision quality matter. You are comfortable owning the commercial narrative in high-stakes tenders, challenging senior stakeholders constructively and shaping offers that win the right work at the right price.

You will bring

• Proven experience leading end-to-end pricing and tender strategy for large, complex or regulated contracts
• Strong background in commercial pricing, deal structuring and margin management within a B2B environment
• Experience operating in asset-heavy, multi-site or operationally complex businesses
• Advanced financial modelling capability with the ability to interrogate assumptions and risk
• Confidence influencing senior leaders across sales, operations and finance
• A pragmatic mindset focused on sustainable, profitable growth rather than win rates alone
• Clear, credible communication skills to articulate commercial trade-offs and risk

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in business, commerce, economics or equivalent commercial experience
