The Opportunity
Reporting to the Head of Pricing & Revenue Management, the Commercial Pricing Manager plays a critical role in embedding commercial discipline and value-based pricing across the Business Unit.
The purpose of this role is to develop and apply a deep understanding of key value drivers across pricing and revenue management, ensuring commercial decisions reflect real operating conditions, network constraints and long-term margin outcomes.
Working closely with BU leadership, Sales, Operations and Finance, you will shape pricing decisions, support complex deals and tenders, and strengthen the commercial rigour applied to customer outcomes. Acting as the conduit between the Business Unit and central Pricing, Revenue Management, Forecasting and Deal Desk teams, you will translate group pricing frameworks into practical, executable decisions on the ground.
This is a hands-on commercial role for someone who enjoys influencing decisions and lifting pricing capability across a complex, asset-driven organisation.
Key Responsibilities
• Partner with BU General Managers, Commercial Finance Managers, Regional Managers and Sales leaders to identify, understand and actively manage key value drivers across price, volume, mix and margin
• Lead pricing and commercial strategy for complex deals, renewals and tenders, shaping end-to-end offers including pricing logic, indexation, escalators, volume assumptions and risk buffers
• Provide strong commercial input into Deal Desk forums, delivering evidence-based recommendations aligned to pricing guardrails, delegated authorities and BU value objectives
• Bring local market insight on competitor behaviour, customer dynamics and cost drivers into pricing decisions and Local Market Plans
• Stress-test assumptions around volumes, mix, disposal pathways, utilisation and cost escalation to protect margin, capital discipline and network outcomes
• Monitor price, volume and margin performance, partnering with Commercial Finance to identify risks, leakage and improvement opportunities early
• Act as the primary conduit between the Business Unit and central Pricing, Revenue Management and Forecasting teams
• Contribute decision-ready insights into branch, regional and GM forums as part of regular BU operating rhythms
About You
You are a commercially astute, analytically strong professional who enjoys being embedded in the business and influencing real decisions. You balance rigour with practical judgement and are comfortable operating in complex, operational environments with imperfect information.
You will bring:
• Strong commercial and analytical foundation, with the ability to translate cost, volume and utilisation into clear pricing decisions
• Proven pricing ownership in complex environments, with a minimum of 7 years' hands on experience with accountability for deal pricing, rate cards and margin outcomes
• Experience operating in asset-heavy, multi-site or operationally complex businesses
• Demonstrated ability to work with Sales and Operations to enforce pricing discipline and improve commercial outcomes
• Confidence influencing and constructively challenging senior stakeholders
• Clear communication skills, translating numbers into practical commercial advice
Qualifications
• Tertiary qualification in commerce, economics, finance, engineering or a related discipline
• CA/CPA or similar qualifications are advantageous, but not essential
• Extensive relevant commercial experience will be strongly considered in lieu of formal qualifications
