Mechanic - Leading Hand
- Permanent – Full Time – Northgate, Brisbane, QLD.
- Afternoon Shift - Monday to Thursday 2 pm to 10 pm. Friday 12 pm – 8 pm
- Occasional opportunity for Overtime on Saturdays
- $46.56 per hour + 15% Afternoon shift loading - Penalties for overtime
- On-call weekend rotating roster (Generally 1 in 4 weekends). On-call allowance paid
- Full Uniforms provided
Based in Northgate on Brisbane’s northside, we are seeking to add an experienced and qualified Leading Hand Diesel Mechanic to our expanding team. Reporting to our on-site Maintenance Supervisor and Equipment Manager, as part of a 50+ vehicle fleet operation. The day-to-day tasks that you will be responsible for include:
- Oversee a team of 5 Mechanics and 1-2 Apprentices
- Complete maintenance tasks for compliance with maintenance and safety standards/procedures.
- Partner with the Maintenance Supervisor on daily operational tasks. i.e. maintaining the company's computerised maintenance management system, paperwork processing, parts identification, and ordering, etc.
- Carry out routine maintenance, diagnostics, and unplanned repair work on our fleet
- Conduct test driving and/or operating vehicles to verify repairs have been completed to the required standard
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will have the following:
- Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent).
- Minimum HR licence
- Experience with a range of makes and models of heavy vehicles and trailers, including with waste bodies, electrics and or hydraulics will be advantageous.
- Computer literacy skills with experience in JDE (CMMS) and Microsoft Office programs will be advantageous.
- Focus on safety and sustainability.
- Have good people skills and the ability to work in a diverse team environment.
