Payroll & Systems Manager

We’re looking for an experienced Payroll & Systems Manager to lead a high-performing corporate payroll function in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

This role is ideal for someone who combines strong payroll expertise with systems capability and people leadership, and who enjoys driving accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement.

About the Role

You will take ownership of a tiered payroll function, overseeing end-to-end monthly payroll processing along with the associated accounting and compliance activities. Leading a team of six, you’ll ensure payroll operations run smoothly while maintaining strong governance across systems, reporting, and legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team responsible for monthly end-to-end payroll processing
  • Oversee post-payroll activities including reconciliations, general ledger entries, and month-end reporting
  • Ensure compliance with payroll tax, superannuation, and relevant legislation
  • Manage payroll system administration, configuration, and optimisation
  • Drive process improvements and efficiencies across payroll operations
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to a team of six direct reports
  • Partner with finance and broader business stakeholders to ensure payroll accuracy and alignment

About You

  • Proven leadership experience (minimum 5 years) managing payroll teams
  • Strong understanding of payroll legislation and statutory obligations
  • Solid knowledge of payroll accounting, including reconciliations and general ledger processes
  • Highly system-savvy, with experience managing or optimising payroll systems
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, high-volume environments
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement capability
