The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Workshop Supervisor to lead our workshop operations and ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective maintenance of our heavy vehicle fleet.
Reporting to the Fleet Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for maximising fleet availability, maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements, and driving productivity across the workshop team. This is a key leadership role where you will work closely with operations, suppliers, and technicians to ensure our fleet remains reliable, safe, and ready to support business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee daily workshop operations, including scheduling, job allocation, and workflow management through Leading Hands
- Participate in daily operational huddles with the Glendenning site leadership team
- Ensure fleet availability targets are achieved while minimising vehicle downtime
- Liaise regularly with external vendors and service providers to coordinate repairs and maintenance activities
- Monitor workshop productivity, labour utilisation, and repair turnaround times
- Lead, coach, and develop technicians and workshop employees to build a high-performing and engaged team culture
- Manage performance, training, succession planning, and workforce capability
- Ensure all servicing, maintenance, and repair activities meet manufacturer specifications and legislative requirements
- Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, NHVR, and regulatory standards
- Oversee preventative maintenance programs to optimise fleet reliability
- Manage workshop budgets, parts inventory, external repair costs, and expenditure controls
- Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and continuous improvement
- Champion workplace health and safety practices and ensure adherence to company policies
- Monitor and report on key operational KPIs
- Manage vehicle registration compliance and coordinate annual inspections to ensure NHVR scheme compliance
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in fleet maintenance, heavy vehicle operations, or workshop management
- Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic qualification
- Strong mechanical and technical expertise within heavy vehicle environments
- Proven leadership experience managing workshop teams and driving performance outcomes
- Sound knowledge of fleet compliance, maintenance programs, and safety requirements
- Experience using fleet and workshop management systems
- Strong planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities
- A commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence
