Project Officer - 6 month contract

We are seeking a proactive and organised Project Officer to join our team and deliver a range of small to medium-sized projects, equipment lifecycle initiatives, and continuous improvement programs.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys managing projects from concept through to completion while working closely with operational stakeholders to improve asset performance, safety, and efficiency. You'll play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.

About the Role

As the Project Officer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and close-out. You will work collaboratively across the business to ensure projects meet operational requirements while maintaining strong governance, risk management, and financial control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of small to medium-sized capital and operational projects.
  • Scope projects and prepare development impact assessments.
  • Coordinate equipment lifecycle replacement and improvement initiatives.
  • Develop project plans, schedules, budgets, and documentation.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure delivery within agreed timeframes and budgets.
  • Proactively manage project scope and ensure changes are appropriately controlled.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues.
  • Prepare and maintain project reporting, financial tracking, and status updates.
  • Develop Safe Work Instructions and other project documentation as required.
  • Engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, safety, and reliability.

About You

You are a motivated project professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced industrial environment and has the ability to manage multiple priorities while building strong stakeholder relationships.

You will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience managing small to medium-sized projects from initiation through to completion.
  • Experience delivering projects within an industrial, manufacturing, mining, or fixed plant environment.
  • Strong project planning, organisation, and coordination skills.
  • Sound financial acumen with experience monitoring project budgets and costs.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience identifying and managing project risks and issues.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • A tertiary qualification in Project Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A mechanical engineering background will be highly regarded.
