The Opportunity

Reporting to the Landfill Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of landfill operations, ensuring operational targets, environmental obligations, and customer expectations are consistently achieved. You will lead site teams, contractors, and stakeholders while driving a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading daily landfill operations to maximise safety, productivity, cost control and environmental compliance.
  • Managing landfill infrastructure, construction projects and site development activities.
  • Overseeing environmental monitoring, licence compliance and regulatory obligations.
  • Driving operational performance through reporting, KPI management and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Managing budgets, forecasting and site financial performance.
  • Building strong relationships with customers, regulators, contractors and local communities.
  • Ensuring all activities align with Cleanaway's safety and environmental standards.

About You

  • Tertiary qualified in Civil, mining, mechanical or environmental engineering.
  • Strong leadership capability with experience leading frontline operational teams in landfill, waste, quarry, mining, civil construction, heavy industrial or similar operations.
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance, safety systems and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trusted relationships internally and externally.
  • Sound commercial acumen and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Excellent communication, planning and problem-solving skills
