The Opportunity
Based in Wingfield, SA, the Workshop & Fleet Maintenance Manager role is accountable for end-to-end performance of all fleet maintenance functions, ensuring asset availability, compliance and cost optimisation. The role works closely with regional maintenance planning for scheduling cadence and demand/capacity balancing, manages budgeting processes, and leads multi-site fleet maintenance operations, aligning performance, engagement and delivery outcomes; including managing multiple Third-Party Maintenance activities and Contract Maintenance performance and efficiency.
- Drive standardised ways of working to improve consistency, efficiency and safety outcomes across sites
- Govern safety, roadworthiness and compliance, ensuring audit actions are closed and risks effectively managed
- Ensure all Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM) activities are completed within set guidelines and managed accordingly.
- Provide clear and consistent communication and build strong relationships with Operational leaders
- Manage third-party vendor panel including selection, onboarding, performance management and compliance requirements
- Manage quote‑to‑invoice variance, disputes and escalations to maintain cost control
- Maximize recovery through warranties, core returns and other cost recovery mechanisms
- Apply strong commercial acumen and negotiation to optimise cost, quality and service delivery
- Ensure vendor adherence to HSE requirements, including inductions and permit controls
- Oversee commercial governance across quotes, invoices, variations and out-of-ordinary repairs
- Use data-driven decision-making to inform planning, performance and continuous improvement
- Lead continuous improvement and change initiatives to reduce downtime and improve asset performance
- Build capability through competency standards, training, authorizations and coaching of Supervisors
- Apply strong compliance, risk management and change leadership across all areas of accountability
About You
Our ideal candidate will be a commercially savvy individual with a mechanical maintenance understanding, with capability to manage all fleet maintenance activities across South Australia.
- Team management experience is essential
- Understanding of Profit & Loss, as well as asset utilisation
- Ability to read and understand multiple Power BI Reports
- Provide commentary and action plans to improve performance and be accountable for actions taken
- Transport & Logistics, Mining & Resources, Waste Management or related heavy industrial background.
- Vehicle design and manufacturing knowledge advantageous
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Influencing skills as well as the ability to manage expectations
- Strong leadership skills
