Your Opportunity
Cleanaway is seeking a practical, operations-focused Site Engineer to support landfill operations across Victoria and selected interstate landfill assets. This is a site-based engineering role that works directly with operational teams to improve landfill performance, optimise airspace utilisation, support compliance outcomes and drive continuous operational improvement.
Working closely with site leaders, supervisors and contractors, you will translate engineering principles into practical site outcomes, providing real-time support to ensure landfill activities are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with operating requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the preparation and execution of weekly landfill fill plans.
- Align filling activities with operational priorities and equipment availability.
- Monitor operational compliance against environmental, safety and operating standards.
- Conduct site inspections to verify waste placement, compaction and cover activities.
- Track key performance indicators including compaction density, airspace consumption, cover utilisation and ADC application.
- Utilise Power BI, Power Apps and Power Automate to improve operational visibility and reporting.
- Escalate operational risks, data issues and non-conformances as required.
- Additional ad-hoc projects such as monitoring of GPS system and minor capex projects
About You
You enjoy being on-site, working collaboratively with frontline teams and solving practical operational challenges. You are comfortable balancing engineering principles with real-world operational requirements and enjoy identifying opportunities to improve performance and efficiency.
Must-Have Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience or demonstrated exposure to landfill operations, earthworks or bulk material handling environments.
- Experience working within active construction, industrial, infrastructure or operational sites.
- Ability to communicate effectively with operators, supervisors, contractors and stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of safe work practices and operational compliance requirements.
- Ability to interpret operational data and support performance improvement initiatives.
- Strong problem-solving skills and practical engineering judgement.
