The Opportunity
With responsibility for 330 assets, including cab Chassis and bodies, the Fleet and Maintenance across QLD/NT, this role manages one of Australia's largest fleet and maintenance portfolios.
Based in Northgate, Brisbane, the Workshop & Fleet Maintenance Manager role is accountable for end-to-end performance of all fleet maintenance functions, ensuring asset availability, compliance and cost optimisation.
The role works closely with regional maintenance planning for scheduling cadence and demand/capacity balancing, manages budgeting processes, and leads multi-site fleet maintenance operations, aligning performance, engagement and delivery outcomes; including managing multiple Third-Party Maintenance activities and Contract Maintenance performance and efficiency.
- Lead end-to-end fleet maintenance operations to maximise asset availability, compliance, and cost efficiency.
- Ensure all preventative and corrective maintenance activities are completed within required timeframes and standards.
- Drive standardised ways of working, continuous improvement initiatives, and strategies that reduce downtime and improve asset performance.
- Manage safety, roadworthiness, compliance, and risk, ensuring audit findings and corrective actions are addressed.
- Oversee third-party maintenance providers, including vendor performance, commercial governance, contract compliance, and cost control.
About You
- Proven people leadership experience managing maintenance teams across multiple sites.
- Strong commercial acumen with a solid understanding of P&L management, asset utilisation, and cost optimisation.
- Mechanical maintenance knowledge, ideally within Transport & Logistics, Mining, Waste Management, or a related heavy industrial environment.
- Ability to analyse performance data (including Power BI reporting), develop action plans, and drive operational improvements.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and lead change.
