Start Your Career with Purpose at Cleanaway
Build your future while helping create a more sustainable Australia.
At Cleanaway we're transforming how Australia manages waste, recycling and resource recovery. As Australia's leading waste management company, we're investing in the next generation of professionals who want to make a real impact, solve complex challenges and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Our two-year Graduate Program is designed to provide meaningful hands-on experience and structured development. Whether your passion is engineering, chemistry, health and safety, information technology, finance, commercial operations or data analytics, you'll have opportunities to learn, grow and contribute from day one.
If you're curious, adaptable and willing to roll up your sleeves, we'd love to hear from you. We work in an industry that isn't always glamorous, but makes a real difference to communities every day.
About the Program
Our Graduate Program combines practical experience with exposure to the scale and complexity of a national business.
Over two years, you'll:
- Complete rotations across a range of OTS sites and facilities.
- Work alongside operators, technical specialists and site leaders in active industrial environments.
- Gain hands-on experience assessing, classifying and managing hazardous and regulated waste streams.
- Apply scientific knowledge to support safe, compliant and effective operational outcomes.
- Contribute to projects focused on safety, compliance, environmental performance and operational improvement.
- Be part of a graduate cohort with a shared onboarding and development experience.
- Receive structured learning, mentoring and professional development opportunities.
- Build a strong professional network across Cleanaway.
What We're Looking For
This role is suitable for Applied Science (Chemistry) graduates. We will also consider candidates from related disciplines who can demonstrate a strong foundation in chemistry relevant to this area of our business. Previous industry experience, placements or full-time work within waste or a similar environment will be viewed favourably.
We value attitude, initiative and learning agility more highly than academic results alone. We're looking for graduates who are curious, adaptable and practical, with a strong safety mindset and an interest in applying scientific knowledge to operational challenges. While chemistry is at the core of this role, you'll apply that knowledge in active industrial facilities rather than a traditional laboratory environment.
Eligibility
To be eligible, you must:
- Have completed, or be due to complete, a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate qualification before the program commences in February 2027.
- Be an Australian/New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Be available to commence the program in February 2027.
- Be willing to travel as required throughout the program.
Please note that Cleanaway is unable to provide visa sponsorship or relocation assistance.
Benefits
You'll receive a competitive salary and access to a range of employee benefits.
