The Opportunity

We’re building the next stage of AI at Cleanaway, and this is an opportunity to help shape how Generative AI operates across a large and complex organisation.

As our AI Operations Lead, you’ll take the lead on the day-to-day operation and evolution of our enterprise AI platforms. You’ll help move our platforms into a scalable, well-governed BAU environment while continuing to unlock new capabilities for the business.

You don’t need to be a developer, but you’ll be technically curious and comfortable getting under the hood of AI platforms. You’ll understand how the technology works, identify why something isn’t working and translate technical concepts into practical solutions for the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operation of enterprise AI platforms, including configuration, access, integrations, controls and optimisation.
• Provide production support, owning complex incidents and coordinating resolution across IT, Cyber, vendors and technical teams.
• Analyse platform adoption, licence and credit consumption, feature utilisation and support trends to identify opportunities and drive improvements.
• Assess vendor releases and new AI capabilities, coordinating changes and safely unlocking new features for the business.
• Establish and continuously improve BAU processes, operational documentation, support procedures, reporting and service management practices.
• Partner with business and technical stakeholders to translate user needs and AI concepts into practical platform, adoption and service improvements.

About You

You’re energetic, curious and thrive in an evolving environment. You enjoy solving problems, bringing structure to ambiguity and taking initiative to turn ideas into practical outcomes.

As part of a growing AI function that’s still taking shape, you’ll enjoy a broad scope, take ownership across different areas and help shape how AI is embedded and operated across Cleanaway.

You’ll bring:

• Hands-on experience supporting or administering enterprise AI, SaaS, data or digital platforms, ideally within a developing or newly established environment.
• A practical understanding of Generative AI concepts including models, prompts, agents, integrations, monitoring and common failure modes.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to interpret usage, adoption and operational data and turn insights into action.
• An understanding of enterprise privacy, cyber security, data governance, Responsible AI and risk controls.
• The ability to bridge the technical and business worlds – understanding the detail while communicating clearly and confidently with a broad range of stakeholders.
