The Opportunity
Our Liquid Technical Services team supports the handling, transport, storage and treatment of hazardous reportable priority waste. As the chemist in our team based in Dandenong, you are primarily responsible for safe acceptance, transport, storage and treatment of hazardous reportable priority waste whilst ensuring compliance with site operating licence. Additionally, you will also be responsible for the following:
- Acceptance of reportable priority waste on site in conformance with site operating licence
- Sampling and analysis of reportable priority waste accepted on site in preparation for treatment
- Preparing treatment batch sheets for liquid and solid hazardous waste
- Sampling and analysis of prospect customer samples for the sales team
- Preparation of sales quotes for the Cleanaway Liquid Technical Services sales team
- Offer technical support to the operations team with regards to hazardous waste management
- Assist the Operations Supervisor with the development of work instructions and completion of risk assessments for waste treatment options
- Continuously looking for ways to improve treatment methodologies of current and future waste streams.
About You
- Degree in Chemistry / Chemical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Previous experience working in waste treatment facilities or with hazardous chemicals – highly advantageous
- Experience working as an Industrial Chemist (either in manufacturing or processing environment) or in a technical role would be highly advantageous
- Articulate communicator – being able to translate technical concepts safely into business impacts
- Demonstrated hands-on work experience
- Sound knowledge in operating/calibrating laboratory instruments
- Demonstration of commercial acumen would be looked at favourably
- Demonstrated meticulous record keeping skills in a regulated environment
