Your New Role:

Lead from the Front: On-Site Safety Leadership with Real Impact

This isn’t a desk job and that’s exactly the point.

We’re looking for a hands-on Health & Safety leader to join the Construction & Demolition team, who thrives in fast-paced, high-risk environments. Someone who doesn’t just talk about safety but lives and breathes it on the ground, with boots on, and sleeves rolled up. This role is all about being present, being involved, and making safety real for our people.

If you're an experienced manager with a passion for safety, operational excellence, and frontline impact, this is your opportunity to lead from the front and shape the safety culture of a business that never stands still.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Lead from the ground up: Be a visible safety leader across sites, partnering with frontline teams and operational leaders to create safer ways of working.
  • Grow capability: Mentor and support a team of HSE professionals, helping them develop into the next generation of impactful safety leaders.
  • Turn knowledge into action: Support sites in applying best practices to prevent injury and illness.
  • Drive projects that matter: Deliver targeted safety initiatives and embed key elements of Cleanaway’s HSE Roadmap to reduce risk and improve performance.
  • Empower People: Influence and guide people on safety effectiveness, capability, and operational best practices.
  • Be the link to regulators: Manage reporting, relationships, and responses to ensure compliance and engagement.

About You:

You’re a natural leader who’s confident managing people, navigating complex environments, and rolling up your sleeves when needed. You know that safety isn’t just a policy—it’s a culture, and one that’s built on trust, presence, and practical action, a culture where people feel supported and empowered

You’ll Bring:

  • Significant health & safety leadership experience in high-risk, blue-collar industries (transport, logistics, manufacturing, or similar).
  • Proven management skills—you know how to lead, influence, and engage both up and down the chain of command.
  • A love of being on-site and on the move—this role involves regular travel across multiple depots and regions.
  • Strong incident investigation, risk assessment, and coaching skills.
  • A passion for cultural change and an ability to embed safety into everyday operations.

If you’re ready to step into a role where you can lead, influence, and drive real change, apply now and be part of Cleanaway’s journey to a safer future.

Our Process:

Our recruitment process involves a number of checks including, but not limited to, criminal history, medicals, drug & alcohol testing, as well as verification of qualifications, licences and right-to-work status.

  • We are dedicated to improving employment outcomes and encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We also welcome candidates of all ages, abilities, gender identities, experiences (including veterans), and cultural backgrounds.
