About Your Opportunity
Reporting to our Senior Supervisor - Water Quality Monitoring, you will collect and report on observational data pertinent to the management of water quality, environment and process improvement for assets owned or operated by Seqwater.
This is a field-based role where you will drive around to our stunning locations, work outdoors and make a great contribution to the SEQ community.
Key responsibilities:
- Undertake scientific Water Quality Monitoring in accordance with procedures, standardised instructions and task specific guidelines as directed, ensuring the integrity of samples and taking all required measures to ensure accuracy and repeatability of results can be assured.
- Undertake scientific field and laboratory analysis with a high level of accuracy and repeatability in accordance with procedures, standardised instructions and task specific guidelines as directed.
- Apply scientific knowledge gained through tertiary studies and/or previous work experience to the recording of observations pertinent to the management of environmental and water quality values at Seqwater.
- Assist in the continuous improvement of the Catchment Science team through development and application of advanced scientific techniques learnt in tertiary studies, professional development activities and/or work experience.
Hours and Locations
This is a part-time, 0.5 FTE position (19 hours/week), requiring Tuesday and Wednesday 9.5-hour shifts. The role is based at Ewen Maddock Dam and ends December 31, 2025.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Tertiary Qualification in a relevant science discipline.
- Unrestricted C class manual driver’s licence; Recreation marine driver’s licence (or the ability to obtain one).
- Experience in the collection and scientific analysis of environmental and/or other scientific samples.
- The ability to meet the physical requirements, such as lifting up-to 15kgs, kneeling and walking through different terrain.
- Knowledge of the ability to easily acquire knowledge of the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines (ADWG) and Australian and New Zealand Guidelines Fresh and Marine Water Quality, the DES Monitoring and Sampling Manual 2018 and the Water Quality and Environmental regulatory environment.
- Coxswains accreditation – Grade 3 or above (desirable).
This position has a salary starting at $87,431.08 (pro rata) plus superannuation and is a part-time (0.5FTE) fixed term contract until 31st December 2025.
