About Your Opportunity

Are you ready to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of water supply in South East Queensland? As the Senior Strategic Planning Engineer at Seqwater, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring our bulk water grid meets the evolving needs of our region. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining a reliable and sustainable water supply, driving innovation, and delivering strategic objectives. This is your chance to oversee the planning and performance of all asset classes, including treatment and bulk water distribution, and make a lasting impact on our community's water security.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of meaningful and comprehensive long-term strategies (5-30yr horizons) to future proof the reliability and sustainability of the bulk water grid in South East Queensland, taking a holistic view of all water assets and applying best practice asset management theories.
  • Lead investigations and coordinate stakeholders to determine future service needs of the Seqwater water supply system in terms of community safety, water quality, water security, peaking requirements, and continuity of supply.
  • Lead analysis of the existing system performance and identify service delivery risks and future capability deficits through coordinating inputs from various subject matter experts including hydraulic and system modelers.
  • Lead engagement with representatives from the Water Service Providers in the joint development of Local Area Plans that address joint servicing needs, service risks and opportunities.
  • Lead processes to identify and develop strategic options that address risks and projected capability deficiencies. Characterise options in terms of benefits, regulatory risks, costs, implementation risks and delivery timeframes.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Tertiary qualification in a related Engineering discipline.
  • Current active RPEQ registration or ability to quickly achieve RPEQ registration, in a discipline relevant to the position.
  • Significant demonstrated professional experience in strategic planning for water supply networks and in particular, bulk water supply networks
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience in integrated strategic planning for large and complex systems.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills in the establishment of an asset risk profile and consequential business case development.
  • Experience in the design, delivery and operation of water supply networks.

This position has a salary range of $149,648 – $162.324 (dependent on experience) plus 12.75% superannuation.
