About Your Opportunity

As the Senior System Planning Engineer, you will contribute to the long term future growth and performance of the bulk water grid in South East Queensland, ensuring it is fit for purpose, delivers key organisational strategic objectives and continues to provide a reliable and sustainable future-proofed supply of water to our customers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of long-term strategies to ensure the reliability and sustainability of the bulk water grid in South East Queensland, including mitigation of medium-term supply risks through operational strategies and infrastructure improvements.
  • Provide technical supervision to planning engineers and modellers, ensuring engineering decisions align with water security objectives and regulatory compliance.
  • Analyse current system performance and coordinate with subject matter experts to identify risks and capability gaps, aiming to improve sustainability, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align on optimal solutions during project assessments, managing differing opinions and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Lead the development of business cases and technical documentation to progress water security projects, contributing engineering expertise to enhance credibility and effectiveness.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Tertiary qualification in a related engineering discipline, with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in asset performance analysis, particularly in water transfer assets.
  • Current active RPEQ registration in a relevant discipline or ability to obtain it within 12 months of commencing employment.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning and integrated system planning for large, complex bulk water supply networks.
  • Strong background in hydraulic and water balance modelling, and in the design, delivery, and operation of water supply networks.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to prepare technical reports and explain complex engineering concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead others, manage multiple projects independently, and apply system-thinking to resolve water supply challenges.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity with a salary range from $149,648.11 - $162,324.62 (dependant on experience) plus 12.75% superannuation.
