About Your Opportunity

As the Principal Procurement - Operations, you will be responsible for shaping and executing the organisation’s operations and maintenance procurement strategy, ensuring alignment with business priorities, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. Partnering with Executive General Managers (EGMs) and other key stakeholders, you will drive procurement initiatives that enhance business resilience, cost optimisation, and supplier innovation.

This role requires deep expertise in category management, strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier engagement within complex regulatory and commercial environments. You will also play a key role in procurement transformation, leveraging AI, automation, and digital procurement tools to optimise sourcing and supplier performance.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead Enterprise-Wide Procurement Strategy: Develop and drive procurement strategies across all Operations portfolio categories to maximise organisational impact.
  • Manage Portfolio Spend: Influence capital and operational expenditure decisions to optimise commercial outcomes and business value.
  • Strategic Supplier Engagement: Build and manage high-impact supplier relationships to ensure innovation, risk mitigation, and commercial effectiveness.
  • Leverage Advanced Analytics: Use AI, automation, and predictive analytics to enhance sourcing decisions and supplier performance.
  • Ensure Compliance and Governance: Align procurement activities with Queensland Government frameworks and uphold Seqwater’s governance standards. 

About you

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain, Law, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Over 10 years of professional experience with a proven track record in strategic sourcing and category management.
  • Strong commercial acumen and expertise in complex contract negotiation, supplier management, and procurement transformation.
  • High-level stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, particularly with executive teams.
  • Advanced analytical reasoning and ability to apply first-principles logic to commercial problem-solving.

This position will be offered as an individual TFR package with an attractive salary and is a full time 2 year fixed term contract role.
