Position Summary
The Culverhouse College of Business at the University of Alabama invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Management Information Systems (MIS), with an anticipated start date of August 16, 2025. Successful candidates will be expected to conduct and lead independent, high-impact research in MIS, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and contribute to departmental and university service at a level appropriate for the rank of Assistant Professor. Potential teaching assignments range from large lecture section of an introductory MIS course to graduate, including PhD, courses. Relevant professional experience in the field is a plus.


Detailed Position Information
The Department of Information Systems, Statistics, and Management Science invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Management Information Systems (MIS), with an anticipated start date of August 16, 2025.

Research: Candidates should provide evidence of high-impact research. While we welcome a wide range of MIS research topics and methodologies that align with and enhance our department’s research agenda, we have a particular interest in candidates specializing in Mixed Methods Research, Healthcare Information Systems, Social Media, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Human-Computer Interaction, Online Communities, and Electronic Commerce.

Teaching: Candidates must demonstrate excellence in undergraduate and/or graduate teaching. Preference will be given to those with experience in teaching courses related to Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Python Programming, Systems Analysis and Design, Software Engineering, and Database Management.


Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must have completed a doctorate in MIS or a closely related field by August 16, 2025. Current Assistant Professors are strongly encouraged to apply.


Preferred Qualifications
Preferred candidates will demonstrate a proven ability, or show strong potential, to lead independent research and publish in MIS journals recognized on the Culverhouse Journal List, particularly in the 'Aspirational' and 'Excellent' categories: https://research.culverhouse.ua.edu/policies/college-journal-list/. Also important is flexibility and latitude in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses.
