Job Summary: The Post Award Specialist monitors post-award activities of externally sponsored projects. Reviews, coordinates, and organizes new award set-up to ensure timely action and compliance with regulations that govern multiple aspects of research. Liaise with Principal Investigators, department administrators, and departments within the Division of Research and Economic Development. Ensures timely award close-out in accordance with federal regulations, UA policies, and award terms and conditions.
Additional Department Summary: Monitors all grant and contract award budgets closely for faculty in the Department of Geography and the Environment and the Department of Geological Sciences to ensure spending aligns with budgets, expenditures comply with sponsor and UA guidelines, effort is captured and reported accurately, and funder post-award requirements are met in a timely and accurate manner. Works closely with investigators to develop and maintain their list of current and pending awards. Works closely with the Department of Geography and the Environment and faculty to ensure investigator compliance with award conditions and will initiate funder approved budget revisions when needed. Supports research faculty in these areas by maintaining databases of active awards and faculty effort used for reporting in both departments.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher and some experience in a business or legal work environment.
Skills and Knowledge: Self-starter, proactive, and diligent with follow through on assignments. Proficient in Excel. Highly organized. Ability to work with a high degree of independence. Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as a member of several teams. Maintains confidentiality of information.
