Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm


Job Summary: The Executive Director Facilities and Grounds Maintenance and Support provides comprehensive oversight of building maintenance, grounds management, custodial services, elevator operations, logistics, and the coliseum department. Drives operational excellence of the University’s facilities and grounds by establishing and implementing short- and long-range department goals, objectives, strategic plans, operating procedures, and performance standards. Monitors and evaluates programmatic and operational effectiveness and implements changes as needed. Establishes best practices and standard operating procedures. Collaborates with campus and community stakeholders to further institutional strategic and operational goals. Ensures facilities and grounds are maintained in accordance with University standards.


Additional Department Summary: Reports to Associate Vice President for Facilities and Grounds. Oversees units that include a team of approximately 540 employees in service-oriented, skilled trades, technical and professional positions. The team maintains and enhances over 16 million square feet of facilities and grounds across 325 buildings on 1400 acres and is committed to providing efficient, well-maintained, comfortable, and inspiring spaces for students, faculty, and staff.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and eight (8) years of facility or grounds management experience; OR master's degree and six (6) years of facility or grounds management experience.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.


Skills and Knowledge: Outstanding collaboration and communication skills. Ability to develop a culture of process improvement, performance excellence, customer service, transparency, and accountability. Comprehensive understanding of facilities, maintenance, operations, and infrastructure. Decision- making, planning, organizational, and problem-resolution skills. Strong relationship-building and communication skills with internal and external constituents. Ability to function within a complex regulatory environment. Ability to manage and develop employees and relationships, inspire a high level of commitment and performance from employees, and influence outcomes. Ability to lead, participate in, and actively manage change in the business environment. Ability to deliver clear, focused explanations of complex issues for varied audiences.


Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in facilities management, operations management, engineering, or related field. Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP) certification.
