Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm; some evenings & weekends required


Job Summary: The Academic Coaching Coordinator develops and delivers academic support to individuals and groups of students. Provides one-on-one academic coaching to University students. Assists with recruiting, selecting, and training student peer coaches. Oversees operations of the peer coaching program. Collaborates with campus partners and Capstone Center for Student Success colleagues to develop and deliver study skills workshops and presentations to campus constituents to support academic success.


Additional Department Summary: The Academic Coaching Coordinator develops and delivers academic support to individuals and groups of students. Provides one-on-one academic coaching to University students. Assists with recruiting, selecting, and training student peer coaches. Oversees operations of the peer coaching program. Collaborates with campus partners and Capstone Center for Student Success colleagues to develop and deliver study skills workshops and presentations to campus constituents to support academic success. Manages and supervises student staff in the CCSS under limited supervision. Develops innovative programming to enhance academic support for University students. Offers professional coaching to students in need of more intensive support. Participates in assessment efforts to identify programmatic needs and accountability for program success related to specify learning and operational outcomes. Maintains accurate visit records and data. Develops and implements appropriate and effective marketing and communication strategies to promote programs, services, and activities to students served as well as campus wide constituencies. Represents the Capstone Center for Student Success to constituents on- and off-campus as needed. Works occasional evenings or weekends as required.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of academic advising or student success experience; OR master's degree and some academic advising or student success experience.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of experience to include some supervision, advising, coaching, or student development in higher education.


Skills and Knowledge: Highly developed positive interpersonal skills. Ability to work with a multicultural population. Strong organizational and project management skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks. Detail oriented. Ability to work independently and adhere to strict timelines. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing in order to successfully perform essential tasks as well as manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism. Proficiency using technology. Ability to collect, analyze, interpret, disseminate, and report data regarding program outcomes and services to internal and external constituents. Ability to collaborate with other units within Academic Affairs and Student Affairs to plan and implement programs to promote student success and enhance student retention. Ability to work and interact with undergraduate students, parents, faculty, staff, and administrators. Use of personal computers and standard application software (word processing, spreadsheet and/or database management programs). Good budget management, planning, evaluation and assessment, marketing, and problem-solving skills.


Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, college student personnel, or related area. Some experience with the development, implementation, and management of tutoring or peer leadership programs. Knowledge and understanding of best practices in student development, campus environments, community and student learning theories and their application in practice, and a tolerance for ambiguity.
