Job Summary: The Student Services Assistant aids in a variety of activities associated with student services for a department or college.
Additional Department Summary: Assists with the coordination of the Department of Mechanical Engineering's academic programs. Oversees prospective student recruitment activities. Provides administrative support for the Director of Graduate Programs in the department. Assists with other departmental activities/duties as directed by the Department Head, such as, but not limited to, performing course and room scheduling, working with a variety of software to assist with scheduling, student information, and course/curricular materials.
Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED.
Skills and Knowledge: Working knowledge in the usage of personal computers and standard application software (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Good organizational, communication and public relation skills. Punctual and reliable. Excellent communication skills. Excellent customer service skills. Efficient and accurate computer and data entry skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic setting. Ability to research and prepare comprehensive reports. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to work at a rapid pace with numerous interruptions. Ability to demonstrate tact, versatility, and adaptability. Ability to demonstrate a high degree of self-motivation and directional initiative.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with UA operating software programs, including Concur and Astra, and knowledge of UA's financial and purchasing policies and procedures. Experience with budgetary and purchasing responsibilities, which includes reconciling credit card statements in Concur and processing purchase orders in buyBAMA.
