Department Summary: This Director Culverhouse Career Center provides vision and leadership for the Culverhouse College of Business Career Center. This position includes oversight for career services for the College. The Director reports to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate and International Programs in the College and has a dotted line relationship with the UA Career Center Executive Director. The Director serves as a liaison between the Career Center and the College, its faculty, administrators, prospective students, parents, and employers. This position communicates and/or coordinates all career-related activities for the College. The Director collaborates and communicates with the College administration, faculty, and staff to provide strategies for developing and improving career services for all College constituents. The director is a member of the Career Center Coordinating Council that meets regularly to ensure effective communication and collaboration between the College center and the UA Career Center. Responsible for completing required training that is related to laws and regulations, that creates a more hospitable and respectful workplace; and safer work environment. Responsible for holding staff accountable for completion of required training. Partners with faculty, academic advisors and other campus partners to identify student needs and provide relevant programming. Plans Career Center events and initiatives to address student career needs by creating opportunities for engagement and connections with employers. Has personal accountability for financial reporting and responsibility for establishing, enforcing, and following internal processes and controls as outlined in UA policies and procedures.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of career advising or employer relations experience; OR Master's degree and four (4) years of career advising or employer relations experience.
Skills and Knowledge: Experience leading a team and have strong organizational and multi-tasking management skills. Highly developed interpersonal, human relations, and communications skills. Ability to develop and sustain robust relationships with constituents.
Demonstrated commitment to expanding multicultural knowledge, awareness, and skills as evidenced through demonstrating self-awareness; understanding and valuing others; demonstrating knowledge of social inequalities; interacting effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
Preferred Qualifications: Direct experience in a university Career Center or student services, managing budgets/financial reports, strong computer and interpersonal skills.
