Job Summary: The Academic Advisor II provides guidance to University students on academic progress, courses, University resources, etc. Identifies courses to be completed in upcoming semesters. Explains University and College policies. Provides guidance and trains entry-level advisors. May teach compass course as needed.
Additional Department Summary: Meets with undergraduate nursing students regarding their academic needs. Identifies students with significant financial need and challenges, and communicate needs to scholarship administrators. Plans and implements group advising for lower division nursing students each semester in collaboration with the director of the Undergraduate Program. Works with students, faculty, and staff with various backgrounds and experiences
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of academic advising experience; OR master's degree and some academic advising experience.
Skills and Knowledge: Excellent verbal and written communication and public speaking skills. Effective computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, database management, etc.). Good planning, coordinating, organizing, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to read and interpret policies and procedures.
