Job Summary: The Academic Advisor II provides guidance to University students on academic progress, courses, University resources, etc. Identifies courses to be completed in upcoming semesters. Explains University and College policies. Provides guidance and trains entry-level advisors. May teach compass course as needed.
Additional Department Summary: Advise Undergraduate students on a daily basis as walk-ins and by appointment during designated advising/registration times. Assist with conducting new student orientation/advising/registration during the summer. Verify information for student regarding transferring of courses, GPA calculations, Suspension, and Financial Aid. Meet with prospective students and parents. Attend some recruiting events.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of academic advising experience; OR master's degree and some academic advising experience.
Skills and Knowledge: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Public speaking skills. Computer skills to include word processing, spreadsheet and/or database management. Good planning, coordinating, and organizing skills. Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to read and interpret policies and procedures.
