Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm; regular evening hours required; some nights and weekends

Job Summary: The Student Success Coach supports students throughout the academic year by providing academic and college coaching support. Implements systems and processes to address student success and retention and to enhance the learning experience. Facilitates individual and/or group communications with assigned student populations. Develops collaborative relationships with other academic and student success/services staff to support students.


Additional Department Summary: Works with Undergraduate and Graduate UA Online students throughout the academic year. Provides academic and success coaching support. Focuses on implementing systems and processes to address student success and retention and to enhance the online student learning experience. Regularly communicates with students and other constituents. Creates engagement opportunities and online student resource workshops. Participates in assessment efforts to identify programmatic needs and accountability for program success related to specific learning and operational outcomes. Accurately maintains coaching records and data. Develops and implements appropriate and effective communication strategies to promote programs, services, and activities to online students. Represents UA Online to constituents both on and off-campus.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher.


Skills and Knowledge: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Highly developed positive interpersonal skills. Proficiency using technology. Ability to relate with adult students across the lifespan - student backgrounds and pain points are extremely variable. Strong organizational and project management skills. Ability to work independently and in a group. Creative and proactive. Ability to handle multiple tasks with various deadlines as well as manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism.


Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with college students in an academic support context. Professional experience with distance learning and/or adult students. Knowledge of successful student retention initiatives, academic success coaching, or academic interventions in a higher education environment and a tolerance for ambiguity. Experience with Blackboard Learn and other student support systems.
