Job Summary: The Associate Director of Institutional Effectiveness provides continued efforts to develop and maintain an efficient process of institutional effectiveness. Manages review and evaluation of the University’s assessment plans and reports. Maintains lists of programs, assessment coordinators, and reporting deadlines.
Additional Department Summary: Consults with University constituents to identify and develop missions, goals, outcomes, measures of achievement, and strategies for improvement as a part of a robust institutional planning and evaluation process. Assists academic programs with disciplinary accreditation and regular program review. Assists student, academic, and administrative support entities as well as units responsible for research and community outreach in strategic planning, evaluation, and annual reporting. Leads OIE review of the University's institutional effectiveness processes and related reports. Manages special projects related to institutional effectiveness as assigned by the Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness. Coordinates the development of assessment and evaluation processes, methods, and measures for special projects and initiatives, e.g. Supports activities related to SACSCOC compliance and is expected to be active in the peer review process. Supports the Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness, who is the campus’ educator regarding assessment/institutional effectiveness. Develops and implements materials for professional development opportunities, such as workshops, conferences, webinars, and websites. Remains informed of current IE-related issues by attending appropriate conferences and consulting relevant publications and resources. Works closely with the Director of IE and a team of IE professionals to learn and understand the institution's current IE process, to help develop and implement future enhancements to the process, and to disseminate appropriate information about IE processes to the University community through a variety of means, including website, presentations, publications, etc.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of accreditation, assessment, evaluation, and/or institutional effectiveness experience in a higher education environment; OR master's degree and four (4) years of accreditation, assessment, evaluation, and/or institutional effectiveness experience in a higher education environment.
Skills and Knowledge: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work in a collaborative office environment. Demonstrated skills with software for data analysis, project management, assessment management, survey development and administration, and process management. Experience with quantitative and qualitative research. Leadership and administration skills. Knowledge of institutional and specialized accreditation. Knowledge of academic curriculum development and related institutional processes, such as program review. Knowledge of strategic planning and evaluation. Facilitation skills. Project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate degree in assessment related field. Experience designing and implementing a computer-based application for evaluating annual assessment plans and reports in a major university. Experience collaborating with faculty and staff in a university setting to develop assessment/evaluation plans and methods of measuring achievement. Experience in the administration of institutional effectiveness operations/projects at major university with undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs. Planning and evaluation experience with student life and administrative support units. Training as a SACSCOC IE Peer Evaluator.
