Job Summary: The Web Strategist II uses specialized technical and web-centered digital marketing knowledge to manage or support college-level websites. Works under moderate supervision.
Additional Department Summary: Oversees the content in support of all the Barefield College of Arts and Sciences' communications via web and internet, and overall internet communication strategies, including supervision of the planning, creation, editing, and publication of digital content, which primarily focuses on College websites but also includes text, photos, non-promotional and promotional videos, digital signage, and related products. Devises and coordinates the College's digital communication efforts as a key element of the institution overall marketing and information presentation strategy as well as development, implementation and quality control of content strategy and standards. Targets online communications for state, regional, national, and international access as part of the College's integrated marketing communications plan, working closely with the Director of Communications for the College. Serves as supervisor for one full-time editorial staff and student employees and acts as the web communications manager/advisor to the 26 academic departments, student services, service organizations, and the Dean’s Office of the College of Arts and Sciences.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of web content management experience; OR master's degree and some web content management experience.
Skills and Knowledge: Ability to articulate a long-term vision, operate on a strategic level and be politically aware of the requirements and motivations of faculty, students, customers and vendors. Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication, collaboration and team building skills, the ability to effectively work with faculty and staff at all levels of the organization, and demonstrated management, customer service, problem solving, interpersonal, planning/organizational skills are also required. Ability to interact comfortably with faculty, staff and other higher ranking higher education personnel. Experience or familiarity with web software such WordPress and digital content creation software such as Adobe Creative Cloud.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in English, journalism, or creative writing and editorial experience, and five (5) years of experience with writing digital content. Experience with supervising junior staff or student workers. Experience working with a range of digital media, including video, signage/advertising, and/or podcasting.
