Detailed Position Information
The Department of Human Nutrition, Hospitality and Sport Management seeks to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Sport Management beginning in the Fall 2026 semester. The Department is one of five in the College of Human Environmental Sciences at The University of Alabama. Our recently launched Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Sport Management programs are two of the fastest growing degree programs at the University.

Responsibilities:
• Conduct research to advance the Sport Management discipline.
• Actively pursue external grant funding to support research initiatives.
• Deliver high-quality instruction in undergraduate and graduate Sport Management classes.
• Recruit, mentor, and advise undergraduate and graduate students in academic and career development.
• Contribute meaningfully to departmental, college, and university service through committee participation and professional engagement.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
• Earned doctorate degree in Sport Management or related field.
• Evidence of research productivity through peer-reviewed publications and scholarly conference presentations.
• Evidence of successful teaching or instructional leadership at the collegiate level.
• Demonstrate potential for securing competitive external funding.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications: • Professional experience in sport industry. • Evidence of student mentoring/advising at the undergraduate and graduate level. • Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration and community partnerships.
