Job Summary: The Sales and Event Specialist plans, coordinates, and facilitates meetings and events at the Bryant Conference Center. Assesses clients' needs, negotiates details of campus arrangements. Develops creative solutions for space limitations and clients' budget constraints. Facilitates details of clients' events. Develops and administers noncredit programs delivered by Bryant Conference Center.
Additional Department Summary: The Bryant Conference Center (BCC) is located in the heart of Tuscaloosa on The University of Alabama's campus and is West Alabama’s premier meeting and event facility. The BCC has classrooms, board rooms, and event space perfect for trainings, meetings, and conferences. Each year, over one hundred thousand guests attend academic, business, or social functions here.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher and some event planning, hospitality, marketing and/or public relations experience.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Skills and Knowledge: Ability to work effectively with a variety of client groups, university personnel, and faculty in developing and implementing program details. Proficiency in written, verbal, and electronic communications. Highly developed interpersonal skills. Able to work periodic evenings, weekends, and holidays due to conference meetings or events, etc.
Preferred Qualifications: Hotel, resort, or conference center experience for an institution of higher education, hotel property, or other similar organization. Account Management, Event Reservation Software, and CRM experience.
