Job Summary: The Systems Administrator II supports the functionality and availability of mission critical University and non-critical systems by performing intermediate level systems engineering and administration under moderate supervision. Provides system and application administration responsibilities for multiple systems to provide desktop deployment to the campus or department.


Additional Department Summary: This position will be responsible for providing application and system administration to multiple systems that provide required services to Audio Visual Solutions. These include Jamf Admin and Jamf Server, Adobe Admin, Smart Deploy Server, Deep Freeze Server, PDQ, and Hypervisor Server. This position will also be responsible for assisting with the configuration, maintenance and operations of over 1000 computing devices in classrooms, conference rooms, and digital signage, as well as system administration for the servers that support those computer systems. This position will provide technical and end-user support for systems utilized in these areas. This position will also assist the AVS Assistant Manager with day-to-day operations within the AVS department.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree; OR bachelor's degree and two (2) years of system administration experience; OR associate's degree and four (4) years of IT experience to include two (2) years of system administration; OR High school diploma or GED and six (6) years of IT experience to include two (2) years of system administration.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with university policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions


Skills and Knowledge: Proven ability to develop and implement process improvements. Hands on experience with academic management software. Strong decision making and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively relate to and communicate with people across all levels of the organization. Able to work independently with limited supervision and with strong initiative, follow through, and attention to detail.


Preferred Qualifications: Minimum 5 years of work experience and expertise in computer systems operations. Experience in Windows Server, PDQ, Smart Deploy, Deep Freeze and Jamf is preferred.
