Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm; some evening/weekend hours as needed.


Job Summary: The RN II provides professional nursing care to patients. Reviews physicians' orders for accuracy and authorization prior to implementing them. Prescribes and initiates nursing treatment through direct, assisted, or delegation to other staff. Leads specialized area of nursing for department. Provides guidance and direction to other staff.


Additional Department Summary: Provides administrative direction and supervision of services relating to immunizations and allergy treatment administration for the Student Health Center. Processes timely and accurate student/patient records updates as they relate to health entry requirements for on-campus residential students per UA policy. Oversees all administrative aspects of clinic operations, including staffing, scheduling, patient records management, suite maintenance, supply inventory management, and clinic workflow management. Serves as student/patient liaison to resolve complaints and report issues as needed. Assists the clinic in meeting all accreditation requirements as they pertain to immunization/allergy services.

Provides professional nursing care to patients within the scope of the RN license. Reviews physicians' orders for accuracy and authorization prior to implementing them. Prescribes and initiates nursing treatment through direct, assisted or delegation to other staff. Provides patient care and supervisory support for all Student Health Center clinics as needed.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Alabama in good standing and two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Current CPR certification. Experience using an electronic health record system in a previous learning or employed role.

Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.


Skills and Knowledge: Ability to perform patient care as directed by a physician, nurse practitioner, or other qualified medical professional. Efficient and accurate computer and data entry skills. Excellent communication, public relations, customer service, and telephone etiquette skills. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment. Desire to exemplify the core values and mission of the organization, always exercising utmost discretion, diplomacy, and tact in patient/staff interactions. Willingness to learn and consistently deliver patient-centered, high-quality customer friendly service. Ability to maintain strict confidentially of protected health information and follow FERPA/HIPAA regulations at all times. Punctual and reliable, ability to work extended hours as needed during busier clinic times.


Preferred Qualifications: Five (5) years of nursing experience to include initiative leadership and other administrative functions. Experience with computerized appointment systems or other Health IT software/web-based platforms.
