Job Summary: The Instructional Design Quality Specialist PT serves as the lead Instructional Designer and coordinator for external course quality reviews including managing communication, submitting required paperwork, and responding to external reviewer questions within timelines. Evaluates and provides feedback on courses based on required content standards, internal standards, Quality Matters K12 Rubric, and the National Standards for Quality Online Courses. Collaborates with external groups, course development staff, subject matter experts, reviewers, and Alabama State Department of Education as needed.


Additional Department Summary: Oversees processes related to course quality assurance. The ID Quality Specialist collaborates with the course development team and SMEs to implement recommended course updates. Completes internal course functionality and quality reviews. Completes technical quality and accessibility audits, remediating course materials as necessary.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of instructional design, interactive technology, or technical support experience; OR master’s degree and four (4) years of instructional design, interactive technology, or technical support experience.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must clear the fingerprint/background check required by the Alabama State Department of Education for work with the ACCESS Virtual Learning Initiative.


Skills and Knowledge: Excellent communication skills. Familiarity with K12 online learning programs. Application of instructional design principles. Knowledge of the Quality Matters K12 rubric and Course Reviewer training. Ability to oversee and manage multiple projects at the same time.


Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in education, instructional technology, or interactive technology and four (4) years of professional instructional design experience. Experience in instructional design for K-12 with knowledge of learning management systems, Schoology. Experience may include multimedia authoring, curriculum development, or instructional design. Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud suite, TechSmith Camtasia, and/or Articulate Storyline. Experience meeting online accessibility requirements. Supervision experience. Quality Matters training and certification.
