Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm; occasional evening/weekend hours as needed


Job Summary: The Medical Purchasing Associate aides in procurement-related medical activities.


Additional Department Summary: Assists with the procurement and distribution of medical supplies to all College of Community Health Sciences (CCHS) facilities, including the Student Health Center and all University Medical Center community clinics. Performs physical activities related to the preparation and distribution of medical supplies and prescription medications under the direct supervision of the Medical Purchasing Director.

Ensures necessary medical supplies/equipment, pharmaceuticals, and other items are obtained and delivered to clinic locations in an efficient and timely manner. Coordinates deliveries, serves as procurement courier and back up to medical courier for all CCHS facilities as needed. Monitors inventory usage and maintains supply levels. Maintains accurate inventory records and produces reports for billing purposes. Serves as administrative support for CCHS Medical Purchasing Director.


Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of administrative experience; OR associate’s degree.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.


Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of procurement practices. Proficiency in the use of personal computers and standard application software (word processing, spreadsheets and/or data base management), and graphical software. Ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing, using technical and non-technical language. Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making. Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.


Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in a clinical setting (Medical Assistant, LPN, Veterinarian Assistant, etc.) and working knowledge of clinical supplies and medical equipment preferred. Experience with University financial policies, purchasing and budget procedures, and systems (i.e. Banner, Concur, P-Card) preferred.
