Job Summary: The Director of Internships provides leadership, strategic direction, and oversight for campus wide Internship Initiatives. Designs and advances a comprehensive experiential learning framework that expands high-quality internship opportunities for all students. Strengthens employer engagement. Collaborates closely with faculty and academic departments to align internships with curricular goals.
Additional Department Summary: Completes required training and promotes a safe, hospitable, and respectful workplace. Holds staff accountable for completion of required training. Has personal accountability for financial reporting. Establishes, enforces, and follows internal processes and controls as outlined in UA policies and procedures.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of career advising or employer relations experience; OR master's degree and four (4) years of career advising or employer relations experience.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of internship best practices, labor guidelines, and experiential learning frameworks. Strong project leadership, program development, communication, and relationship‑building skills. Knowledge of strategic program planning and management. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to build relationships with campus partners and constituents. Skills in external relations. Demonstrates commitment to supporting all students. Fluency in using technology and data to develop new approaches to improving workloads and innovative solutions to challenges. Strong project leadership, and program development. Knowledge of internship best practices and experiential learning frameworks. Demonstrates commitment to supporting all students.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in higher education administration, student affairs, business or related field. Supervisory experience in a Career Center or Student Life environment. Experience developing partnerships with employers, faculty, or community organizations. Experience with university internship policies, academic credit models, and faculty collaboration. Experience with Handshake and other career management or experiential learning platforms.
