Job Summary: The Director of School Strategic Initiatives collaborates with school leadership at all levels, and others to provide strategic leadership, oversight, and coordination related to the school’s strategic goals and administrative operations. Develops, prioritizes, and leads strategic initiatives. Provides data-based recommendations to inform strategic planning. Oversees critical operations including enrollment target setting, course/instructor scheduling, facilities development, and information technology management. Ensures best use of available resources to meet school strategic priorities.
Additional Department Summary: The Director School Strategic Initiatives for the University of Alabama's School of Social Work reports to the Dean and collaborates with the Associate Deans, Program Directors, and others to provide strategic leadership, oversight, and coordination related to the School’s strategic goals and administrative operations. This includes managing strategic initiatives, conducting data analysis to inform strategic planning, and overseeing the integration of enrollment management and fiscal planning to ensure the School’s financial stability. The position requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills to plan, coordinate, and implement strategic initiatives.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and eight (8) years of academic administrative or project management experience; OR master's degree and six (6) years of academic administrative or project management experience.
Skills and Knowledge: Supervisory, analytic, and strategic planning skills. A keen understanding of strategic planning, collaborative decision making, data analysis, enrollment management, and budgetary principles that can be applied to the broad array of responsibilities required of this position. Ability to plan, organize, and carry out major strategic projects is necessary, as is the ability to coordinate and communicate effectively across a complex organization. Proven track record of data-driven problem solving and strategic planning experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree. At least ten years of professional work experience with increasing responsibility. Experience and knowledge of the higher education sector, especially in the areas of enrollment management and budget planning.
