Job Summary: The Research Project Manager provides oversight and planning for the development, implementation, and delivery of research project(s). May supervise staff and provide supervisory guidance to external stakeholders assisting with the project.


Additional Department Summary: The Research Project Manager coordinates the day-to-day activities of the On Track to Wellness program funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH) Program. Interprets post-award university and sponsored guidelines to faculty and staff. Develops financial accounting systems to track expenditures for all aspects of the grant. Acts as a liaison with other university departments, community partners, and sponsors of the award. Coordinates and oversees meetings and activities between the sponsor project officer, media team, evaluation team, and project component experts including nutrition, physical activity and vaccination experts. Oversees post-award activities for various community sites within allotted grant funding. Works as a member of the administrative team in decision making and implementation of new initiatives and represents discussions and negotiations with sponsor and community partners. Coordinates yearly site visits with sponsor. Represents administrative team and university at the annual sponsor-required training and conference in Atlanta, Georgia. Hires, trains, and supervises other project staff. Coordinates evaluation activities with consultants to develop operational and statistical reports. Creates and maintains charts, graphs, tables, spreadsheets, and databases.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of project management experience; OR master's degree and two (2) years of project management experience.


Skills and Knowledge: Ability to work independently using sound judgement and solid decision-making skills to solve problems and to work through barriers that may impact progress. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Attention to detail and strong presentation and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills in virtual, phone, and in-person formats. Ability to interact with faculty, staff, students, and community partners with high professionalism and confidentiality. Proficiency with Zoom, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Microsoft Teams and the latest features of the Microsoft Office suite.


Preferred Qualifications: Five (5) years of experience in community engagement and/or in supervisory roles. Fluency in Spanish.
