Job Summary: The Director of Athletic Student Services provides leadership and oversight to academic programs in assigned sports. Supervises the assigned Advisors. Develops programs to assist Bill Battle Academic Center (BBAC) in meeting the needs of the student-athletes and other constituents of the program such as faculty, coaches, and University administrators.
Additional Department Summary: Provides individualized advising, class scheduling, and registration assistance to student-athletes to ensure they are maintaining satisfactory progress toward their degree and are informed of programs and services that will help them be academically successful. Monitors student-athletes' academic eligibility to compete in athletic events.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of experience in academic advising, teaching, or in a student services work environment; OR master's degree and four (4) years of experience in academic advising, teaching, or in a student services work environment.
Skills and Knowledge: Basic knowledge in the usage of personal computers, including word processing. Comprehensive knowledge of degree requirements in all colleges within the University. Thorough knowledge of SEC and NCAA regulations. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications: Degree in education, counseling, behavioral science, or business. Academic advising and/or higher education administration experience. Division I experience. Familiarity with student information systems, such as Banner and SIS+.
