Job Summary: The Irrigation Worker assists Irrigation Technicians in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of underground sprinkler/irrigation systems. Drives from site-to-site.
Additional Department Summary: Shifts may exceed 8 hours per day depending on the condition of the grounds and campus event schedules. Performs work at various locations, including events such as football games. Requires overtime, sometimes on short notice.
Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and one (1) year of underground electric and hydraulic irrigation system installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair experience.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have a valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with university policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.
Skills and Knowledge: Good communication skills. Ability to operate a variety of job-related tools, equipment, and machinery used in groundskeeping operations, including chemical supplies. Ability to stand, walk, lift, and carry groundskeeping equipment for prolonged periods. Ability to work in all types of weather conditions and temperatures.
Preferred Qualifications: Successful completion of a recognized horticultural training program.
