Job Summary: The Assistant Director of Undergraduate Scholarships provides oversight in the University's efforts to award qualified student scholarships and merit aid. Serves as a liaison to all internal and external stakeholders involved in awarding scholarship funds. Manages the scholarship application awarding decision process for undergraduate scholarships. Oversees all administrative actions related to undergraduate scholarship policies and guidelines.
Additional Department Summary: Plays a key component on the scholarship management team and provides support and assistance with strategic planning and operations of the Undergraduate Scholarships Department. Oversees the administrative approval and budget creations of all scholarships added to the Alabama Scholarship Awarding System (ASAS) and management of all scholarship training of campus partners to include the 100+ college and departmental scholarship awarders across campus. Conducts complex analyses relative to the operations of the Undergraduate Scholarships Department with a focus on student recruitment.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of scholarships experience; OR master's degree and two (2) years of scholarships experience.
Skills and Knowledge: Advanced knowledge in the usage of personal computers and standard application software (word processing, spreadsheet and/or database management programs). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. An interest in working with prospective college students and their families. Ability to work with various groups of people.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree and three (3) years of scholarship/financial aid experience. CPA license and/or previous accounting experience.
