Job Summary: The Assistant Dean of Strategy and Operations supports the Dean in implementing strategic plans that enhance the college’s academic and operational effectiveness. Oversees operational processes. Manages accreditation-related activities. Drives initiatives that align with the college’s mission and the requirements of accrediting bodies. Champions innovation, impact, and continuous improvement within the college to achieve the vision and strategy.
Additional Department Summary: Serves as a strategic partner to the Dean and works closely and collaboratively with Barefield Arts and Science (BCAS) leadership, Building Managers, Technology Partners, and the Events, Development, and Finance teams. Ensures operations and strategic initiatives run smoothly and effectively, and advance College priorities. Oversees BCAS front-office staff, BCAS student workers, and administrative professional staff as needed to ensure smooth operations.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in business administration, strategic management, economics, higher education administration, or public administration and six (6) years of strategic planning, operations management, or other related experience.
Skills and Knowledge: Working with multiple stakeholders with different priorities. Good understanding of communications and public relations. Understand complex financial rules, requirements, and policies within a state institution.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Business Administration, Higher Education Administration, Public Administration, or related field and strategic planning, operations, or related experience. Experience managing and supervising staff in large and complex organizations. Experience as administrative manager or chief of staff in higher education (or similar) environments. Experience with the complexities and operations of Colleges of Arts and Sciences within large public universities. Experience implementing, managing, and evaluating programs and activities. Experience with managing space, facilities and supervising events.
