Job Summary: The Manager of SafeState Environmental Research provides leadership and oversight for applied research, technical assistance, and field service activities supporting UA SafeState. Manages and supervises industrial and residential energy efficiency, pollution prevention, and sustainability projects supporting the Pollution Prevention Program and the Industrial Training and Assessment Center. Conducts research and publishes technical data related to indoor air quality (IAQ), building energy efficiency, and other environmental and engineering topics.


Additional Department Summary: Oversees the Pollution Prevention Program, Industrial Training and Assessment Center (ITAC) activities, and other industrial and residential energy efficiency initiatives. Supervises Field Services staff and engineering students while managing project execution, technical assessments, and stakeholder/client engagement.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, geology, chemistry, biology, engineering technology, or industrial hygiene and four (4) years of environmental assessment, remediation projects, environmental or occupationally related accreditation / certification programs, management of a business in the environmental, safety, and / or health fields, or consulting, designing, or implementing environmental management systems experience; OR master’s degree in environmental sciences, geology, chemistry, biology, engineering technology, or industrial hygiene and two (2) years of environmental assessment, remediation projects, environmental or occupationally related accreditation / certification programs, management of a business in the environmental, safety, and / or health fields, or consulting, designing, or implementing environmental management systems experience.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.


Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of computerized database management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Human relations, management, and supervisory skills.
