Job Summary: The Communications Specialist II writes and edits communications for a college, division, and/or the University. Develops and implements plans, activities, and tactics to support the goals of assigned areas. Coordinates the production of materials and resources through a variety of platforms, including digital and physical mediums.
Additional Department Summary: The Communications Specialist II helps tell the law school’s story by producing the content that keeps the school visible, credible, and compelling to the audiences that matter most. The Specialist II, under communications leadership supervision, also manages law school social media channels. This role is well suited to a creative, detail-oriented communicator who is fluent across digital platforms and comfortable moving between writing and visual content production.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of experience in journalism, public relations, marketing, and/or communications; OR master's degree and some experience in journalism, public relations, marketing, and/or communications.
Skills and Knowledge: Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.). Strong graphic design and video editing skills. Strong writing and editing skills across multiple formats. Proficiency with Microsoft 365. Experience with social media platforms and content scheduling tools. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Project management skills. Ability to embrace new technologies.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in higher education communications. Experience with social media management and analytics. Experience with photography. Familiarity with brand standards and institutional messaging. Experience contributing to print publications or editorial workflows.
